Aloo ka Halwa – A Comforting Navratri Special Sweet
When it comes to Navratri fasting, our kitchens become treasure troves of creative, sattvic recipes. Amongst kuttu, singhare, sabudana, and fruits, one unique and delightful dish that often surprises people is Aloo Halwa (Potato Halwa). Yes, the humble potato – usually thought of in savory dishes – transforms into a rich, melt-in-the-mouth sweet that is perfect for vrat.

Why Aloo Halwa for Navratri?
- Satvik & Vrat-friendly: Potatoes are allowed during fasting, and when paired with ghee, saffron, and sugar, they create a wholesome sattvic dessert.
- Energy Booster: Potatoes are full of carbohydrates, making them a quick source of energy to keep you active during fasting.
- Easy to Digest: Cooked with ghee, aloo halwa becomes light on the stomach while still being filling.
Tips for Perfect Aloo Halwa
- Mash the potatoes very smoothly; lumps can spoil the texture.
- Adjust the sweetness depending on your taste preference.
- Always soak saffron in warm milk for a deeper color and aroma.
